Day 2 in Santorini
After a refreshing sleep, we woke up, had a lovely breakfast of eggs, meat, cheese, sun dried tomatoes, olives fruit, croissants, breads, and little muffins. It was glorious! We sat at a table that overlooked the sea and sipped our coffee, soaking in the view.
Once we let our food settle, it was time for a hike to the top of the rock near our hotel, Skaros rock. This is more like a cliff atop a hill. While we were lounging around the previous day, we saw this rock atop a hill near our hotel, which people would walk around on top of. We decided that we wanted to go there, too.
After breakfast, we set out on our hike. The receptionist told us it would take 2 hours, which seemed long, but we both wanted to do the hike. It was hot, we made sure to bring lots of sunscreen and water. We hiked past a bunch of villas and infinity pools, beautiful and clean white buildings, and eventually made it down the steps to Skaros Rock, the rock we were going to climb.
We followed paths around the rock, but could not find our way up to the top. After taking some photos and a small water break, we decided it was time to go back. We didn’t have the proper footwear to do any climbing, which made the idea of climbing harder. Although I regretted not being able to climb to the top, I knew it was the smart thing to turn around.
We spent the rest of the day relaxing by the pool and soaking in the view. It was so beautiful! Our hotel had semi-infinity pools- they looked out over the cliff side, and the infinity part was facing the hotel. Nevertheless, you could not beat the view.
Dinner was much better tonight. Our hotel gave us the option of a lettuce salad, a burger, noodles, and dessert. I really liked the burger option, although the interesting thing was it was not served with a bun. It also tasted a bit like lamb, but it could have been the seasoning. In any case, it did not taste like a beef burger that I was used to. Nada had chocolate cake for dessert, and loved it!
The video of our day is below- I swear it is much more impressive than these words can do justice.
In the next blog, I’ll share other exciting things you can do on the island of Santorini. Hint: it includes something that requires gasoline and has no doors!
